With the large spring lake pools in Greers Ferry Lake, the summer drop has caused a rash of dingy water to form in our system. This is a direct reaction to a heavy load of Manganese in the lake at the level of our intakes. Although most of the Manganese is removed in the treatment process, a portion is making it through and intensifying with the addition of disinfection during the water's travel through the system. Manganese is certainly unsightly, but isn't harmful to our consumers. We expect this wave to last a few weeks of sooner.
